THIS WEBSITE IS DEDICATED TO THE PURSUIT OF APPRECIATION FOR THE HUMAN FORM.

Laurence Rifkin has been sculpting for almost two decades. His sculptures are in bronze and acrylic. He is fascinated by the human form and spirit. In college he was an Art Major before he decided to go into professional school. Eventually he became a Dentist, author and international lecturer. His pre-med studies provided him with the opportunity to study and become a teaching assistant in human anatomy. Oddly enough, Dentistry became a wonderful medium to continue the study of natural form. The required eye for detail as a dentist flowed freely into the visual Art of sculpture.

Duplicating Nature was his goal in his Reconstructive Dentistry and Optimal Dento-Facial Aesthetics. Eventually, his passion for drawing and sculpting took him outside the science and art of dentistry and back to the freedom of art school. Studying in Los Angeles with Jonathan Bickart as well as a summer study program in France in the Loire Valley and Province with well know sculptor Martine Vaugel gave him different approaches to sculpting. His own pursuit of natural realism in the classical human form drives him piece after piece to keep refining technique and emulating the human spirit.

He has lectured internationally on these subjects and along with his honorable memberships in numerous elite dental academies, he is one the few dentists in the world to be a member of The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery because of his studies in Art and Human Anatomy. He has given art classes to cosmetic surgeons and dentists from around the world. He has a facial aesthetic research facility called Suite 1200 and a private practice in Beverly Hills, California where he gives lectures and seminars to doctors.

When it comes to Art, he loves all forms and styles yet believes from his experience as a musician as well, that "It is very important to know how to play classical before you play jazz". His underlying philosophy of, "I believe in combining the non-thinking spirit and passion of the soul with all the tools of the language of art. Then one can create form with life whether it is abstract or realism".

Many of his sculptures have been acquired by galleries and private collectors in Paris France, Rio De Janairo Brazil, and the United States cities of New York, Santa Fe, and Beverly Hills.

Laurence Rifkin's private studio is in Marina Del Rey, California.
